When you go to buy a house, call on professionals to look at every part of the home. A home inspector should do this himself, but sometimes they can miss things. Only trained professionals would be able to identify issues that could be disastrous in the future; their years of experience prime them for finding potential issues in most situations. In our (150+) years of experience, we’ve found that video inspections are one of the most basic and useful inspections to do.
Video inspections occur for a variety of reasons, not just when you are on the verge of a new property. They work by inserting a long cable topped by a small light and camera. As we work the cable into the pipe, we can see everything inside of it, including any sort of damage or clogs. In this way, we can find any sort of damages that were missed by a housing inspector. We can also give you a better idea of what your future will look like. Sometimes this means a pipe removal, other times it could mean a septic tank issue.
It’s important to note that even though individuals can buy these cameras from stores. We recommend that you do not use those for plumbing purposes. Cable cameras are fragile, further, your plumbing is fragile too. Using the camera in a way where you are attempting to see into your pipes could end up causing more damage than not. This is because the wrong camera can scrape and scar the inside of the pipes. It is also because you will need a knowledge base in order to adequately diagnose problems and fix them.
