Plumbing Maintenance Checklist Every Homeowner Should Do Monthly

1. Check for Leaks

Inspect under sinks, around toilets, and near appliances like dishwashers and washing machines. Look for puddles, drips, or moisture stains. Even small leaks can waste hundreds of gallons of water and cause significant damage over time if left unaddressed.

2. Test Water Pressure

Turn on faucets and showers to make sure the water pressure is steady and strong. Sudden pressure drops could signal a leak, mineral buildup, or an issue with your water supply line that should be addressed promptly.

3. Inspect Drains for Slow Flow

Run water in sinks, tubs, and showers to check how quickly it drains. If you notice slow drainage, it’s better to clear the clog now rather than wait for it to become a complete blockage later.

Inspect outdoor faucets and hoses for leaks or drips. This is especially important before and after winter, when freezing temperatures can damage fixtures.
